Our Story
Northstar PM Solutions was born from firsthand experience and a passion for solving real-world challenges in the scientific and research community. As a biochemist with over 20 years of experience managing research projects and programs for both DoD and non-DoD government clients, I’ve walked the path many researchers tread today. I began my career as a lab technician and principal investigator, immersed in the science and discovery process. However, it quickly became evident that there was a critical gap: a lack of individuals equipped with project management skills to effectively steer lab programs and ensure their success.
Out of necessity, I stepped into this role. Over time, I honed my skills, learning to navigate the intricacies of project management, from budgeting and scheduling to compliance with complex governmental regulations. This dual perspective—understanding the science while managing the programmatic demands—allowed me to run programs successfully and deliver results.
When I was laid off, I found myself reflecting on the unique challenges faced by researchers. Many incredible studies and talented study directors were burdened by the weight of administrative requirements and regulatory demands, struggling to keep projects on track while trying to focus on the science. The reality is that many of these programs cannot justify the cost of hiring a full-time project manager.
This realization inspired me to create Northstar PM Solutions—a company dedicated to providing critical project management services tailored to the needs of researchers, small businesses, and startups. By offering flexible, accessible solutions, we aim to alleviate the administrative burden and allow innovators to focus on what they do best: advancing science, driving progress, and making a difference.
